Potato and Minced Beef Casserole
Hearty, creamy, and filling – with a spicy sauce and a golden-brown cheese crust.
This simple casserole is real soul food for the whole family. Juicy ground beef, thin potato slices, and a creamy cream sauce combine to create a delicious oven-baked dish that everyone will love.
Ingredients for 4 servings

2 garlic cloves

1 kg potatoes (preferably waxy)

1 tbsp olive oil

500 g ground beef

2 tbsp tomato paste

1 tbsp flour

400 ml Vegetable broth

200g cream
-
150g grated cheese (e.g. Gouda or Emmental)

2 tbsp Italian herbs (frozen)

Preparation

Finely chop the onion and garlic

Peel the potatoes and cut them into very thin slices using a vegetable slicer
2. Cook the minced meat sauce

Heat olive oil in a large pan, brown the minced meat vigorously

Add onions and garlic, fry briefly

Stir in tomato paste and brown, then stir in flour

Deglaze with cream and vegetable stock

Add potato slices, bring to a boil, and simmer covered for 10 minutes

Season with salt, pepper, and Season with herbs.
3. Finish the casserole.

Preheat oven to 200°C top/bottom heat.

Place everything in a casserole dish and sprinkle with cheese.

Bake for approx. Bake for 40 minutes. Cover with aluminum foil towards the end if the cheese gets too dark.
Serving suggestion

Serve with a fresh green salad or a dollop of crème fraîche.
