The good news: With my recipe, you can make the perfect Bolognese sauce in just 30 minutes - without any ready-made sauce. And the best part: You only need a few ingredients, a bit of time, and a desire for honest, homemade food.
Short Trip to Italy - The History of Bolognese
The so-called "Ragù alla Bolognese" originally comes from the northern Italian city of Bologna. The traditional original often contains pancetta (bacon), red wine, and milk alongside minced meat and is served with fresh pasta such as tagliatelle or pappardelle. not with spaghetti, as has become common internationally.
The version we are preparing here is a family-friendly, simplified Bolognese that relies on classic ingredients and is characterized by its speed and balance.

-
2 stalks celery
-
1 onion
-
1 garlic clove
-
1 tbsp olive oil
-
500 g Ground beef
-
Salt and pepper
-
1 tbsp tomato paste
-

-
1 tbsp dried oregano
Also:
-
400 g spaghetti (or tagliatelle)
-
4 tbsp freshly grated Parmesan cheese
-
Fresh basil for garnish
Preparation – Here's how it works step by step
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Total time: 30 minutes
Difficulty level: Easy
1. Prepare the vegetables
-
Peel the carrots and dice them finely.
-
Finely dice the celery.
-
Peel and finely chop the onion and garlic.
Tip: The finer the vegetables are chopped, the more harmoniously they will blend into the sauce later.
2. Sauté the vegetables
Heat the olive oil in a large pan. Sauté the prepared vegetables over medium heat for about 5 minutes until slightly softened, stirring occasionally.
3. Brown the ground beef
Add the ground beef and fry until crumbly, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper and fry for another 5 minutes, until no longer pink.
4. Add tomatoes and spices
Stir in the tomato paste and sauté briefly. Then add the chopped tomatoes and oregano. Mix everything well and let the sauce simmer over low to medium heat for 15 minutes. The longer it simmers, the better the flavor will be!
5. Cook the Pasta
While the sauce is simmering, bring salted water to a boil in a large pot and cook the spaghetti al dente according to the package instructions.
6. Plate and Serve
Drain the pasta and arrange on plates. Pour the Bolognese over the top, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese, and garnish with fresh basil.
